When choosing a mobile disco and bar, you'll notice that many companies describe their equipment as PAT-tested. Portable appliance testing (or PAT) is a requirement that all mobile disco companies should adhere to by law.
It involves the testing of all electrical equipment to be used at your event that requires a mains supply. Testing is required to comply with the Electricity at Work Act of 1989. Generally carried out every year, it ensures that all appliances are electrically safe to use.
PAT-tested equipment is also needed to satisfy the requirements of the DJ's insurance company (assuming the DJ is insured). All my equipment is fully PAT-tested, and I am fully Insured as a member of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ – membership no. 108244).
